Union Minister Anurag Thakur Reveals Enhanced Subsidy of Rs 400 per LPG Cylinder for 33 Crore Ujjwala Beneficiaries; Government Sanctions 75 Lakh More Ujjwala Connections
In a significant development that provides considerable relief to consumers just ahead of the festive season, the Union Cabinet, on August 29, made a momentous announcement regarding a reduction in domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices. This measure encompasses the entirety of the 33 crore consumer base.
As a gesture of goodwill for the festive occasions of Rakshabandhan and Onam, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, during a Cabinet briefing, disclosed a substantial price reduction of Rs 200 per LPG cylinder under the Ujjwala Scheme. Consequently, Ujjwala beneficiaries now stand to gain a heightened subsidy of Rs 400 per LPG cylinder. This price reduction, as previously reported by CNBC Awaaz through insider sources, has been effectuated as a testament to the government’s commitment to consumer welfare.
Anurag Thakur remarked, “All households utilizing domestic LPG cylinders will enjoy an additional subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder. Furthermore, beneficiaries enrolled under the PM Ujjwala scheme will receive this supplementary subsidy atop the pre-existing benefits.”
This supplementary subsidy on LPG cylinders is set to be immediately applicable, as affirmed by the minister.
