The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to landslides and waterlogging in multiple areas of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. At the Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the Kumaradhara River’s water level reached a dangerous mark, submerging the bathing ghat. As a safety measure, authorities have advised devotees against visiting the shrine until the weather situation improves.
In Karvalu, situated under the Udupi district, a landslide posed a threat to a high-tension electricity tower carrying a 110 KV overhead line, causing significant disruption in the power supply as numerous electric poles collapsed. The Manjeshwar-Subrahmanya state highway has also been flooded, leading to disruptions in traffic flow.
With river water levels rising, district authorities have taken steps to relocate many families residing in low-lying areas to ensure their safety in the wake of the incessant rainfall.
