“Andhra Pradesh High Court Delivers Setback to Chandrababu Naidu in Three Cases”

“The Andhra Pradesh High Court Rejects Chandrababu Naidu’s Anticipatory Bail in Three Corruption Cases

Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s request for anticipatory bail was denied by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in three corruption cases related to the Inner Ring Road, Fiber Net, and Angallu 307 cases. This decision comes while Naidu is in judicial custody until October 19 due to his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a skill development scam. In this case, Naidu is accused of misusing funds from the Skill Development Corporation, resulting in a supposed loss of ₹371 crore to the state during his tenure as Chief Minister. These three cases are part of multiple alleged corruption cases filed by the YSRCP-led Andhra Pradesh government against Naidu.

AP Fibernet Case Overview:
The AP Fibernet case involves allegations that Naidu, who also held the portfolio of energy, infrastructure, and investment during his time as Chief Minister, personally recommended that the project be executed by the energy, infrastructure, and investment department instead of the IT department. It is claimed that Naidu approved the project estimates without conducting a market survey and used his influence to award the contract to M/s Terasoftware, resulting in a loss of approximately ₹330 crore to the government.

Inner Ring Road Scam Explained:
The Inner Ring Road scam centers around alleged irregularities in the design of the Inner Ring road around the capital city of Amaravati. Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, has also been named as an accused in this case. The CID has asserted that during Lokesh’s tenure as a non-executive director at Heritage Foods Ltd from 2013 to 2017, the company acquired land in Kantheru village, Guntur district, in 2014. Additionally, Heritage Foods acquired another piece of land from companies affiliated with industrialists Lingamaneni Ramesh and Lingamaneni Rajashekar.”
