“Bangladeshi Woman Expresses Desire to Reunite With Husband in Noida, Sparks Investigation”
Noida: A woman from Bangladesh has approached the Uttar Pradesh Police with a plea to reunite with her husband, who resides in Noida. The woman, identified as Sonia Akhtar from Dhaka, revealed that her husband is Saurabh Kant Tiwari and he lives in the Surajpur area of Central Noida. The couple had married nearly three years ago in Dhaka, but her husband deserted her after the marriage.
Accompanied by the police, Ms. Akhtar stated, “He is not agreeing now, he is not taking me with him to his home. I am a Bangladeshi. We got married almost three years ago. I only want to stay with my husband along with our child.”
Noida Police initiated an investigation based on her complaint.
Additional DCP (Central Noida) Rajiv Dixit explained, “The Bangladesh national informed the Mahila Thana here that she got married to Saurabh Kant Tiwari, who lives in Surajpur area here, but later he deserted her and came back to India. The woman also claimed that Mr. Tiwari was already married.”
Providing visa, passport details, and her Bangladeshi citizenship card, the woman’s case is being thoroughly examined.
“It appears that they both got married in Bangladesh. However, the investigation has been handed over to ACP (Women and Child Safety) so that all details of the case are seen and further action taken accordingly,” Mr. Dixit stated.
Saurabh Kant Tiwari worked for a private firm in Dhaka from January 4, 2017, to December 24, 2021. Their Islamic wedding took place on April 14, 2021, while he was already married to an Indian woman with whom he has two children.
This incident comes to light about a month-and-a-half after the Noida Police arrested a Pakistani national, Seema Haider, who entered India illegally through Nepal to live with her lover in Greater Noida.
Seema Haider and her Indian partner Sachin Meena were arrested on July 4. Despite the investigations, they have been living together since, with a local court granting them bail on July 7.
