Noida: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended KC Joshi, a Principal Chief Material Manager (IRSS: 1988) of North Eastern Railway (NER) in Gorakhpur, following allegations of soliciting and accepting a ₹3 lakh bribe from a complainant.
Subsequently, investigative operations were carried out at both the official and residential properties of the accused in Gorakhpur and Noida (Uttar Pradesh), resulting in the seizure of approximately ₹2.61 crore in cash and incriminating documents.
The case stems from a complaint against KC Joshi, where it was alleged that he sought an undue advantage of ₹7 lakh to refrain from canceling the complainant’s firm’s registration on the GeM Portal. The complainant’s firm had been supplying trucks to the Railways under a yearly contract, earning ₹80,000 per truck per month.
CBI, in response to these allegations, set up a sting operation that culminated in the apprehension of the accused while accepting an illicit payment of ₹3 lakh from the complainant.
