Diverse Guests Gather at Red Fort for 77th Independence Day Celebrations
In a vibrant display of unity and inclusivity, the 77th Independence Day celebrations at the iconic Red Fort in Delhi will feature a diverse group of approximately 1,800 special guests. This eclectic assembly encompasses individuals from various vocations, including fishermen, nurses, farmers, and more, symbolizing the resilience and dynamism of the nation.
Leading the nation’s commemoration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take center stage at the Red Fort, delivering the customary address and unfurling the national flag. Among the attendees are notable figures such as sarpanches from over 660 villages, participants in government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, as well as dedicated workers contributing to projects such as the Central Vista and border road construction.
In a heartwarming touch, 75 couples from each state and Union Territory, clad in traditional attire, have been cordially invited to partake in the momentous occasion. This gesture encapsulates the diverse tapestry of India’s cultural heritage.
Adding an interactive twist to the festivities, strategic selfie points have been installed at 12 different locations, including iconic landmarks like the National War Memorial, India Gate, and Raj Ghat. These selfie points spotlight a range of government initiatives and programs, such as Digital India, Skill India, Swachh Bharat, and more, underscoring the nation’s progress and aspirations.
To extend the celebration to the public, the Ministry of Defence has organized an online selfie contest on the MyGov platform from August 15 to 20. Enthusiasts are encouraged to capture selfies at the designated installations and upload them to the portal for a chance to win. Twelve winners, one from each installation, will be rewarded with a prize of Rs 10,000 each, adding an interactive and engaging dimension to this year’s Independence Day festivities.
