Delhi-NCR Companies Embrace Work-from-Home for G20 Summit with 29 World Leaders
As New Delhi gears up to host the prestigious G20 Summit on September 9-10, businesses in Delhi and its adjacent areas, Noida and Gurugram, are taking proactive steps to facilitate work-from-home arrangements for their employees during the event. This summit is expected to draw 29 heads of states, high-ranking officials from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 leaders of international organizations.
In light of the traffic advisory issued by the Delhi government for the G20 summit period from September 8th to 10th, companies are acknowledging the potential commuting challenges faced by their Delhi-based staff and are responding with flexible work options.
Mita Brahma, HR Head at NIIT Limited in Noida, stated, “Considering the same, we have already announced the flexibility to work from home during the period.”
Saumya Khati, SVP & Head of HR at the Gurugram-based ecommerce platform Shiprocket, emphasized their alignment with the government’s efforts to ensure a smooth summit execution. She mentioned, “In response to the government’s guidance during this event, we have taken proactive steps to provide flexible work-from-home arrangements for our employees in Delhi and for the people traveling from Delhi to our HQ (headquarters) in Gurugram.”
The HR leaders expressed their commitment to supporting the Indian government in the seamless organization of the summit, emphasizing the collective pride of all Indians in hosting such a significant international event.
Gaurav Dani, Founding Partner at INDUSLAW, a law firm, mentioned that they have instructed their employees in the Delhi office to work from home, given that all of Delhi will be either a regulated or controlled zone during the summit. However, he noted that the Gurugram office will continue its regular operations, and employees commuting to and from Delhi will have the flexibility to work remotely.
This proactive approach by Delhi-NCR companies aims to ensure minimal disruptions while contributing to the success of the G20 Summit.
