Rain Showers Embrace Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad | IMD Outlook Ahead
A fresh bout of rainfall greeted the national capital and its neighboring regions on Wednesday morning, accompanied by gusty winds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h. The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre in New Delhi warned of thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain over several areas including Delhi (Seemapuri, Shahadra, Vivek Vihar, Red Fort, Preet Vihar, ITO, India Gate, Akshardham, Lodi Road) and the National Capital Region (NCR) encompassing Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Faridabad, and Ballabhgarh.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) projected additional showers throughout the day, with the possibility of light rain continuing into Thursday. Notably, these showers are not anticipated to significantly impact the maximum temperature.
Temperatures are expected to linger around 35-36 degrees Celsius over the next few days, accompanied by sustained high humidity levels, according to the Met office. Despite a large rainfall deficit in August—recording 52% less than normal—the city has observed above-normal precipitation in the past four months. Impressively, the cumulative rainfall this year has already matched the annual average of 774 mm.
