“In the aftermath of the Anantnag encounter, where Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Uzair Khan and another terrorist were neutralized after a seven-day operation, Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar confirmed the fatalities. Regrettably, four security personnel, including two army officers and a police officer, lost their lives during the intense gunfight.
“At present, we have successfully retrieved the body of LeT commander Uzair Khan, and the remains of another terrorist are visible, although retrieval has not been possible yet,” stated the ADGP during a press briefing in Anantnag. While the gunfight has officially concluded, efforts to thoroughly search the area will persist.
Acknowledging the substantial area that still requires examination, the ADGP emphasized the potential presence of unexploded ordnance, which security forces will locate and safely dispose of. He urged the public to refrain from entering the area for safety reasons.
The ADGP disclosed that security forces had received intelligence suggesting the presence of two to three terrorists, raising the possibility of a third body awaiting discovery, pending the completion of the search operation.”
