Mukesh Sonar, 35, shares a heart-wrenching lesson from his devastating loss as his wife, Jyoti, 32, was tragically swept away by a massive wave at Bandra Bandstand. The family had gone out for an outing, and the children were taking photos of their parents on a rock against the picturesque backdrop. However, within seconds, a powerful wave separated Jyoti from her family, leaving them helpless.
Mukesh, a resident of Gautam Nagar, Rabale, and a technician in a private firm, tried his best to save her but couldn’t withstand the force of the waves. Despite his desperate efforts, Jyoti was dragged into the sea, witnessed by their three children. The incident was reported to the police and the fire brigade, who conducted a search operation and recovered Jyoti’s body late that night. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Mukesh spoke about the family’s tradition of picnicking every fortnight, something their kids eagerly awaited. They had planned to visit Juhu Chowpatty, but due to high tide, they chose Bandra instead. While at Bandra Fort, they decided to take photos near the sea, not realizing the danger. Mukesh deeply regrets the decision and now wants to caution others about the risks associated with such activities.
The incident occurred at 5:12 pm on that fateful Sunday, leaving Mukesh and his children traumatized. He expressed his determination never to venture near the sea again and intends to prevent his kids from doing so as well, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing safety over any adventurous photo opportunity.
