“Rajinikanth Clarifies Controversial Foot-Touching Gesture, Organizes Special Screening of ‘Jailer’ During Uttar Pradesh Visit”
During his recent visit to Uttar Pradesh, superstar Rajinikanth faced criticism for touching the feet of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi. On returning to Chennai, Rajinikanth briefly spoke to the media stationed at the airport and explained his gesture, stating that it’s his habit to touch the feet of Yogis or Sanyasis as a sign of respect and to seek their blessings, regardless of their age.
Rajinikanth’s trip to Uttar Pradesh also included a special screening of his film “Jailer,” which was attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. He also met with Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and visited the Surya Command to express gratitude and appreciation for the Indian Army’s service to the nation.
Before visiting Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth had visited the Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand to offer prayers and attend evening aarti. Videos and photos from his spiritual journey went viral on social media platforms.
In the realm of cinema, Rajinikanth’s film “Jailer” is achieving significant success at the box office. The film, which revolves around a retired police officer using his connections with former prisoners to rescue his son from a gangster, has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark globally. This achievement positions it as the second highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, following Rajinikanth’s own 2018 science fiction action film “2.0.”
Apart from Rajinikanth, “Jailer” features notable actors including Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Mirnaa Menon, and Sunil in important roles. The film, directed by Nelson, also boasts a pan-India star cast with cameo appearances from Tamannaah Bhatia, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, and Shiva Rajkumar.
