Bomb Threat Delays Vistara Flight from Delhi to Pune; Passengers Safely Evacuated
An alert concerning a potential bomb threat targeted at a Vistara flight bound for Pune from Delhi was conveyed to the GMR call center on Friday. The Delhi airport call center received the alarming information, as reported by news agency ANI.
According to official sources, the caller asserted that “three bombs have been placed aboard flight no. UK971, currently stationed at gate no. 42, with intentions to detonate within an hour,” relayed news agency PTI. The call abruptly ended after the message was delivered.
“We confirm that flight UK971, scheduled for departure from Delhi to Pune on August 18, 2023, has encountered delays due to mandatory security protocols. We are closely collaborating with pertinent security authorities to address the situation,” stated a Vistara spokesperson in an official communication.
In response, the aircraft is undergoing a comprehensive inspection within an isolation area at the Delhi airport. All passengers and their belongings have been successfully disembarked from the aircraft.
“We are diligently striving to minimize any inconveniences to our passengers, including providing them with refreshments,” the spokesperson added.
This bomb threat transpired around 7:30 AM during the boarding process, according to sources cited by PTI.
Authorities have confirmed the initiation of a case and are presently engaged in further investigative procedures, as informed by the police to PTI.
