**Multiple Earthquakes Strike Nepal, Sending Tremors Across Northern India, Including Delhi-NCR**
On Tuesday, Nepal experienced a series of earthquakes, with tremors felt in various parts of India, including Delhi-NCR.
The most powerful earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.2, struck Nepal at around 2:51 PM at a depth of 5 kilometers, according to the National Centre for Seismology. Prior to this, Nepal was hit by a 4.6 magnitude earthquake at 2:25 PM, occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Following the 6.2 magnitude quake, Nepal recorded two aftershocks at 3:06 PM and 3:19 PM. The earthquake tremors were also felt in regions such as Gurgaon in Haryana, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jaipur in Rajasthan. Visuals on social media showed people rushing out of buildings in Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh in response to the strong tremors.
Delhi, in particular, is susceptible to significant earthquakes due to its proximity to a Faultline, according to geologists, as it falls in seismic zone IV, categorized as a very high-risk zone, out of India’s four seismic zones (II, III, IV, and V).
These zones are determined by the increasing intensity and frequency of earthquakes.
